Wave Trust,'Trauma informed practice'
A trauma-informed community is an area where knowledge of how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can affect the brain – and how best to respond to this impact – is commonplace. All key local services integrate this knowledge into the way they interact with people every day. Residents across communities work together to not only help mitigate and resolve the effects of trauma for the current generation, but to also prevent it, insofar as they can for future generations.
We train teams to understand and respond to the impacts of trauma on your team, clients and service users. Our course covers:
- How the brain develops
- What trauma is and how it affects people
- How to boost a person’s resilience against trauma
- How to contribute to a more empathetic, collaborative workplace.
There will be the opportunity to apply this understanding to own workplace situations as well as building up a toolkit of skills, equipping them to respond more effectively to challenging behaviour.
