About the Event

There is an over-representation of care experienced people in the Criminal Justice System, and it is vital that we look to tackle this from multiple perspectives. Across London many cross-sector partners are already working together to improve outcomes for young people who are care experienced. However, work is very under-developed for care leavers, whose needs are mostly not recognised by an adult criminal justice system.

The revised MoPAC protocol will be published in the autumn and will be widely promoted across London Criminal Justice System and other partners.

This work will also be linked to the wider work of the Ministry of Justice and also the Childrens Wellbeing and Schools Bill, currently going through parliament, which will extend corporate parenting duties to all government departments, including placing a greater onus on the Ministry of Justice to support the wellbeing of care experienced young people and care leavers.
