Workforce development

Workforce development is a major focus for PYL: it is an important part of our brief to support practitioners in working with young people. In previous years, we ran a training and workforce development working group for our members, which tackled issues of importance to them.

From 2011, with the changes to our membership package, we recognise that all our meetings, events and activities have a specific workforce development focus; so, rather than run a scheduled series of meetings, we will aim to respond to members' requests for activities relating to particular workforce issues. If there is a topic on which you would like us to run an event or a round-table meeting, please contact Lucy Sandford at lucy@pyl.org.uk.

Pan-London Training Network

We recognise that to achieve important changes for London's youth sector workforce we need to engage with partners more widely than our member organisations, so we developed the Pan-London Training Network. Membership of this email network is open to anyone with an interest in training and workforce issues in London, and includes some of London's Universities, colleges and training providers. We send out information to the network via email, consult with them on major projects and invite them to our seminars.

The Network helped us to develop Partnership for the Future, our pan-London training and workforce development strategy in 2007, and the pan-London criteria and checklist for student placements in 2008.

If you would like to join the Pan-London Training Network, please email your contact details to lucy@pyl.org.uk
