The solution-focused model provides a flexible framework for interaction with people. Throughout this training we will examine how to make effective use of this framework by exploring the use of a solution focused approach to action planning as a means of engaging with clients to empower them to make full use of their resources to achieve their goals.
Solution Focused Taster:
During this training we will:
Introduce the Solution Focused approach and its history
•Explore basic solution focused premises and components to increase our understanding of how the model works
•Explore how the model can be used in working with young people
•Set goals and targets to enable practitioners to bring their learning to bear in the workplace.
Action Planning:
During this training we will:
•Explore basic solution focused premises and components to increase our understanding of how the model works
•Explore the specific use of the model in the action planning process
•Set goals and targets to enable practitioners to bring their learning to bear in the workplace.
Conversational Skills:
•Explore basic solution focused premises and components to increase our understanding of how the model works
•Explore the model and make specific use of the conversational tools and techniques
•Set goals and targets to enable practitioners to bring their learning to bear in the workplace.
Reflective Practice:
During this training we will:
•Explore basic solution focused premises and components to increase our understanding of how the model works
•Explore the reflective practice model to make specific use of this technique and maximise its effectiveness
•Set goals and targets to enable practitioners to bring their learning to bear in the workplace.
Scaling:
During this training we will:
•Explore basic premises and components to increase our understanding of how the model works
•Explore the scaling technique to make specific use of this technique and maximise its effectiveness
•Set goals and targets to enable practitioners to bring their learning to bear in the workplace.
The Trainer:
Steve Henfry, the training facilitator, has over 25 years experience working with various individual and groups of young people with a range of needs as well as line managing a team of multi-disciplinary workers. He holds a Masters degree in Solution Focused Brief Therapy and has been delivering training on the subject for the past 5 years.
Cost:
£49 per session (no VAT)
NEWHAM - People working in Private, Voluntary and Independent sector organisations that offer a service to young people in Newham may be entitled to a training bursary for this event, subject to available funding. Please e-mail –training.administration@newham.gov.uk for training bursary eligibility criteria and a bursary application form (you will need to allow at least 2 weeks for processing the training bursary prior to the start of training).
