Young People and Money Training Workshop

Engaging successfully with excluded and vulnerable young people on money matters and illegal lending.  A one day training from Developing Youth Practice and Partnership for Young London funded by the Illegal Money Lending Team who run the Stop Loan Sharks Campaign    Prospective attendees might like to look at a Toolkit of activities and guidance for professionals promoting financial capability in young people. Young People and Money Tool Kit

Training Course outcomes:

  • Understanding the psychology of young people and money
  • Increased awareness of the dangers of using loan sharks and how to report loan sharks
  • Enabling young people to make informed choices
  • Skills to engage young people in financial matters
  • Helping young people make the most of their money
  • Helping young people to manage debt

Date: Friday 3rd November 2017 – one day training

Time: 9.30 am to 4.30pm

Venue: Training Room, North wing, Guildhall EC2V 7HH

Cost: Free

Refreshments: Tea and coffee will be provided. However we are unable to provide lunch. There is an onsite café (cash only) as well as numerous outlets nearby.

  • Financial Capability
  • Embedding in practice
  • Understanding attitudes and behaviours to money – identifying needs, Making positive choices
  • Helping young people make the most of their money
  • What factors influence a young person’s decision to borrow or earn money from a specific source?  The ‘What’s criminal, civil and moral Impact’ question?
  • Enabling young people to make informed choices about saving and borrowing
  • Comparing credit deals and options
  • Helping young people involved in illegal money lending
  • What is illegal money lending?
  • How to report a loan shark, and reducing barriers to report
  • Action plans for implementing financial capability into working practice

This course is not accredited however; we can provide a certificate of attendance for CPD continuing professional development purposes, please contact Lucy Sandford.
