Southern Housing Group
The social, economic and regneration team which is part of Southern Housing Group (SHG) department aims to improve the quality of life for the SHG residents by building safer stronger communities, providing opportunity to enable individuals and communities to realise their potential whilst creating places where people want to live. SHG have five themes that enable the group to deliver these objectives.1. Developing young people - this focuses on support and development opportunities for young people as they are the biggest priority for the group. Current activities include a Youth Engagement Programme.
2. Improving the quality of life for older people - SHG ensure their resources address the needs of the ageing population.
3. Finanical Inclusion - the social economice and regeneration team support a range of initiatives that aim to put SHG residents in a favourable financial position, for example access to credit unions and fair finance.
4. Capacity Building - This supports individuals and communities who live in SHG homes to realise their potential and to provide structure and long term sustaniability.
5. Improving The External Environment - SHG want to ensure residents are proud of where they live and work to improve external spaces by making them usable by the community as well as enabling community to gain skills.
